“Fast and reliable Internet is a basic need, not only in cities but throughout Switzerland. That’s why we’re more than doubling the Internet speed on our hybrid fiber-coaxial cable network, to which around 80% of Swiss households are connected. Our customers will benefit from significantly higher performance, at no extra cost. This puts us a big step ahead of the competition and means we can continue driving digital development forward with our connectivity – in all regions of Switzerland,” says André Krause, CEO of Sunrise, to sum up the speed campaign.

Over the last two years, the Sunrise landline-data volume has increased by about 30%. Growth was twice as high in 2023 compared to 2022. 92% of the population uses the Internet daily or almost daily. As well as smartphones, laptops, computers and tablets, it increasingly connects Smart TVs, game consoles, e-readers, smartwatches, etc.1) On average, an individual uses the Internet for 5.6 hours every day.2) Today, fast and reliable Internet is essential in every area of life, and demand continues to grow.

Sunrise offers a unique mixture of technologies (copper, HFC, fibre optics, 5G) through its own networks and through access to partner networks. Sunrise is the only provider to supply over 95% of Swiss households with landline broadband services of 1 Gbit/s (including 5G fixed wireless access). By increasing Internet speeds from 1 Gbit/s to 2.5 Gbit/s on the HFC network for around 80% of Swiss households, Sunrise is further expanding its competitive edge as a provider. A comparison of broadband coverage (without 5G fixed wireless access) illustrates this clearly:

>80 Mbit/s 92% 92%4) 46%4)
>200 Mbit/s 83% 83%4)
up to 2.5 Gbit/s 46% 80%
up to 10 Gbit/s 46%4)

In particular, existing customers connected to the HFC network, who are currently limited to 1 Gbit/s, will enjoy a significantly improved Internet experience without having to pay more for their subscription. To ensure Sunrise Internet customers can benefit from high-speed Internet performance seamlessly in every corner of their home via a superfast and stable Wi-Fi connection, they will receive a Smart Wi-Fi pod free of charge if required, including support from a specialist team of Wi-Fi experts, who will provide optimal support for any issues related to connectivity in the home. With its cybersecurity products, Sunrise also offers its customers the best possible protection for practically all online activities.

High-speed Internet supports growth plans Sunrise internet speed

Thanks to the investments made in recent years, Sunrise boasts leading network infrastructures that are regularly awarded top ratings in independent national and international comparison tests.

Sunrise plans to pursue its growth course further. Broadband Internet services play an important role in this endeavour. By offering this speed upgrade at no extra subscription cost, Sunrise is creating significant added value, especially for existing customers, and is thus continuing to focus on customer loyalty.

At the same time, high-performance broadband Internet forms the foundation for supplementary service and product offerings that are also based on connectivity. By providing additional services for devices, entertainment, cybersecurity, etc., Sunrise is increasingly positioning itself as a strong partner for all aspects of customers’ digital lives.
