Hence, Slovaks can continue to avail roaming services in the UK as per domestic rates, without incurring extra charges. However, Telekom had previously indicated on its website that after a temporary period, the UK would transition to the pricier Zone 2, a change which was slated for the end of June, though with the possibility of date adjustments.
Now, Telekom confirms that the UK will remain in the current zone at least until the end of the year.
“During the interim period, lasting until 31 December 2023, roaming in Great Britain will be governed by the same rules as those applied to EU countries. Following this phase, Great Britain will be classified under Zone 2. This interim period may be extended,” the current statement reads.
Upon the switch to Zone 2, each minute of outgoing calls would be charged at 1.95 euros, with incoming calls costing 0.99 euros. SMS/MMS would be priced up to 0.39 euros each, and 1 MB of data would cost up to 0.49 euros. Discounted data packages, offering 1 GB for 12 euros, 0.49 GB for 8 euros or 0.1 GB for 2.5 euros, would also be available.
