Singtel reboots global IoT with floLIVE core and eSIM platform

Singtel, Singapore’s largest mobile network operator, has unveiled a transformative global IoT solution that reverses the traditional MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) model. Singtel IoT platform

In collaboration with floLIVE and Lenovo Connect, Singtel is now leveraging floLIVE’s cloud-native, globally distributed core network as its backbone, supported by an enhanced eSIM-based platform aimed at enterprise and automotive use cases.

Key Highlights

1. New Cloud-Native MVNE Model

  • Unlike typical MVNO setups, Singtel will piggyback on floLIVE’s MVNE platform, which offers local compliance, SIM provisioning, and eSIM lifecycle management across more than 190 markets.
  • floLIVE functions as a cloud-based MVNE, enabling major MNOs and MVNOs to route IoT connectivity through its global core network.

2. Simplifying Enterprise & Auto IoT

  • The solution, branded “Multi-Domestic Connectivity” or “Aggregator,” offers a single pane-of-glass platform for enterprises to orchestrate global IoT device fleets. Features include remote eSIM provisioning, multi-IMSI logic, operator switching, billing, and compliance.
  • Singtel has also signed a channel partnership with Lenovo Connect, targeting automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), deploying reliable and secure IoT connectivity for navigation, diagnostics, safety, entertainment, and autonomous vehicle features.

The setup will see Singtel take charge of IoT sales and support, sometimes via Lenovo Connect – which it has signed with in a parallel channel deal, targeting automotive manufacturers in particular. It will lean on its own licensed infrastructure, as possible, and close MNO partnerships in the Asia region. This covers on-the-ground access and local breakout in certain regulated markets, notably China, Indonesia, and India – where IoT roaming is a challenge.

Permanent roaming restrictions in these markets, plus others like Brazil and Turkey, have been a long-time problem for semi-permanent IoT deployments. Singtel will presumably supply some local anchorage for floLIVE’s core network in the region. But even here, floLIVE’s platform will be the backbone for Singtel’s new ‘Aggregator’ eSIM connectivity management platform (CMP) – for SIM provisioning, profile switching, and other lifecycle operations.

3. Global Coverage with Local Compliance

  • The system supports local connectivity in regulated markets—like China, India, and Indonesia—where permanent roaming rules apply. floLIVE’s platform ensures regulatory compliance, with Singtel providing local breakout where needed.
  • In Europe, the Americas, and beyond, floLIVE’s network handles core and eSIM provisioning under the new SGP.32 standard for remote IoT provisioning.

4. Next-Gen IoT Technologies

  • The platform supports multi-IMSI capabilities, allowing devices to switch between network operator profiles seamlessly—a critical advantage for globally roaming IoT devices.
  • It includes support for 5G RedCap, which delivers mid-tier broadband IoT performance—greater than LPWA (like LTE-M or NB-IoT) but below full 5G.
  • Integration with edge computing (MEC) and AI-based orchestration tools provides data traffic performance management and optimization.

Market Context & Strategic Impact

  • According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the global connected car market is expected to exceed US $250 billion by 2030, with Asia-Pacific leading the growth trajectory.
  • Singtel underscores that it is the only operator in the region with active connected vehicle implementations for OEMs from the U.S., Europe, China, and Asia-Pacific
  • By combining Singtel’s infrastructure and floLIVE’s cloud core, the offering simplifies global IoT deployment, spanning smart cities, industrial automation, logistics, healthcare, retail, and more.

Executive Insights

Ng Tian Chong, Chief Executive of Singtel Singapore, commented:

“With our strong regional presence and strength in international delivery, Singtel is well‑placed to help companies seeking to expand into new markets with this transformative global IoT solution… We want to enable intelligent, borderless mobility for the future”.

This marks a leap forward for telco-led IoT expansion—delivering a centralized, compliant, and scalable orchestration layer for global device fleets.

Final Take about Singtel IoT platform

Singtel’s eSIM-powered, floLIVE-backed platform addresses longstanding IoT deployment hurdles—such as regulatory fragmentation, network compatibility, and operator management. This shift from MVNO to cloud-native MVNE not only aligns with evolving enterprise and automotive needs but also establishes Singtel as a robust global orchestrator for next-gen IoT ecosystems.
