From June, O2 will allocate the telecommunications infrastructure to a separate company O2 Slovakia roaming Ukraine
O2 Slovakia is allocating its network infrastructure to a new separate entity, which will operate on the market from 1 June under the name O2 Networks. With this step, O2 Slovakia will be divided into a telecommunications operator (original trade name O2 Slovakia), which will provide services for customers and the administrator and network operator (O2 Networks). The aim of this organizational change is to streamline the operation and management of the construction and operation of physical infrastructure on the one hand and the emphasis on providing services to customers on the other.
Separating network management into a separate entity has the potential to bring customers an even higher level of commitment to improving network performance as well as an emphasis on improving the customer experience in providing telecommunications services. In the global and European telecommunications market, several telecommunications operators already operate in such a structure. One of them is the company O2 Czech Republic, which has been operating in the given model since 2015, and whose positive experience O2 wants to transfer to the Slovak market.
The O2 Group in Slovakia, which also includes the subsidiary O2 Business Services, achieved revenues of 306 mil. eur. At the end of last year, the operator registered more than 2.25 mil. active SIM cards. O2 operates second, third and fourth generation networks, or a separate wireless network to connect households with fast internet. O2 is currently investing heavily in the construction of its own 5G infrastructure, which was available to customers at the end of April in 87 locations in Slovakia.
