Movistar is the first operator in Spain to offer eSIM Quick Transfer on iPhone, a facility that allows customers to digitally transfer the SIM from their iPhone to another iPhone (eSIM ), without having to go to a store or contact Movistar. Additionally, users can also convert their iPhone SIM card to an eSIM directly.
Thus, all Movistar and O2 customers who use iPhones with iOS 17.2 or later will be able to change their terminal from a physical SIM card to a digital eSIM at no cost. The eSIM will maintain the customer’s mobile phone number and replace the old physical SIM card.
With this novelty, it is no longer necessary for Movistar customers to go to a store to buy a QR code to make the transition to the eSIM. Likewise, O2 now allows you to switch to the eSIM without having to request a QR code on the telephone channel.
With the eSIM on the iPhone, it is possible to store multiple eSIMs on the iPhone and use two phone numbers at the same time. Also, while traveling, users can easily activate local data plans using the eSIM.
