Apple iPhone users with debit and credit cards issued by five additional banks and issuers in the UK can now check their current balance, the remaining credit on their credit card, and their card transaction history directly in Apple Wallet. Apple Wallet Connected Cards
Barclaycard, First Direct, Halifax, M&S Bank and NatWest are the latest to add support for Apple’s Connected Cards feature that enables users to link cards stored in Wallet to their respective account details and which rolled out in the UK last month following Wallet’s integration with the UK Open Banking API in the beta version of Apple’s iOS 17.1 update.
The service launched in the UK with support for cards issued by Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Monzo and RBS.
The Connected Cards feature is available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Apple Wallet: View Account Info in Connected Cards
To use Connected Cards, you must first add your eligible card to your Wallet app. Once your card is added, you can tap on it to see your account information. The information that is displayed will vary depending on the card issuer, but it may include your balance, recent transactions, and scheduled payments.
To view your account balance or transaction history, simply open the Wallet app and tap on the card you want to see. If the card is eligible, you will see an option to “Get Started“. Once you have connected your card, you will be able to see your account balance and recent transactions.
Connected Cards is a secure feature that uses industry-standard encryption to protect your account information. Apple does not store your account information on its servers, and it does not share your account information with third-party partners.
Here are some of the benefits of using Connected Cards: Apple Wallet Connected Cards
- Convenience: You can see your account information without having to open a separate app.
- Security: Your account information is protected by industry-standard encryption.
- Accuracy: The information that is displayed is up-to-date and accurate.
Apple also began enabling US iPhone users to check their Discover Card balances and transaction history in Wallet in October.
