70% less roaming mobile traffic in Europe compared to 2019, 3 Sweden says

The month of July, which is usually characterized by many trips abroad, has shown a decrease of about 70 percent compared to the same period in 2019. It shows a survey made by the Swedish mobile operator Tre based on so-called roaming traffic that shows Swedish mobiles in Europe.

– We see a sharp decrease in roaming traffic during the month of July compared to the same period last year. Mobile traffic in otherwise well-visited countries such as Spain, Greece, Croatia and France has occasionally been down by about 80 percent during these weeks if you look at the same period in 2019. Regarding the summer of 2020, we see a certain increase in recent weeks compared to early summer weeks, says Mårten Lundberg, communications director at Tre.

Travel to our neighboring countries decreased during the early weeks of the summer by about 70 percent, compared with the same period in 2019. The proportion of people who traveled to Germany also appears to have increased during the latter part of July, compared with the early summer weeks of 2020 (v.25–28). Then the traffic decrease was about 80 percent compared to 2019, while weeks 29 and 30 showed a decrease of about 70 percent compared to the same period in 2019. mobile traffic in Europe
