Milan offers free Wi-Fi over most of the city
Open Wi-fi Milano is a service provided to residents, tourists or visitors to access internet free of charge from an ever-growing number of hotspots across the city. milan wi-fi
In the areas covered by the service, the Open Wifi Milano signal can be detected by all devices with Wi-Fi connection – smart phones, tablets and laptops. If you use a device other than a mobile phone, you will need to register first with a mobile phone to receive your code for navigation by SMS.
Once you have detected the network, the welcome page will appear on your device, where you will find the box for registration. You then enter the mobile number of an Italian or foreign phone operator and in a few seconds you will receive an SMS with your access code. The code is valid permanently, so it’s best to keep a note of it somewhere safe to be able to use it on another device.
The Open Wifi Milano website offers instructions to talk you through the registration progress. There are also nine individual maps of the city boroughs, each one with green pins showing operating hotspots and yellow pins for hotspots in preparation or about to be activated. Clicking on the pins gives you the exact location.
The service is also being extended to cover Milan’s metro stations and trains. milan wi-fi
