Mexico sets a trend to eliminate roaming in Latin America

“This elimination of roaming not only has to do in strict sense to disappear only by technological evolution, because it also points to other plans; it is the starting signal for the development of the digital economy in this part of the world, “said Jorge Fernando Negrete, director of Mediatelecom Policy & Law. “After four years of reform, it is a Mexican company that presses competition in other markets in Latin America with the experience gained here.”
America Movil in Mexico suffered in its revenues with the obligation to eliminate the national roaming for Telcel, but what has been learned and applied in the rest of America is gaining customers.
The Peruvian press, specialized in telecommunications, for example, reports that more than 90% of Peru’s clients who traveled outside of their country took advantage of the disappearance of roaming and their consumption of mobile data, as postpaid users, grew by 70% during November. of 2017
In Chile, where AMX’s effort to eliminate LAtin America roaming in 17 markets takes shape, rates have dropped by 90%; to date, one minute of voice and the consumption of a mega navigation round 60 Chilean pesos -1.9 Mexican pesos-, also with reports from the local specialized press.
