Puerto Princesa Park is a protected area in the city of Puerto Princesa, located on the island of Palawan in the Philippines. The park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including several endangered species, and is a popular destination for ecotourism and nature lovers. Globe Telecom announced that it is providing free WiFi connectivity at the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (PPSRNP), a world heritage site and one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. One of the specific features of Puerto Princesa Park is the Underground River, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the longest navigable underground rivers in the world. The river runs through a limestone cave system, and visitors can take a guided tour through the caves to explore the river and the surrounding rock formations.
The UNESCO heritage site becomes the first-ever national park with Managed WiFi in the Philippines, allowing tourists to enjoy WiFi connectivity in Sabang Wharf and in the registration area at the cave entrance, said Globe. This initiative supports Globe Telecom’s drive to transform the Philippines into a digital nation by instilling the importance of eGovernance to offices ranging from local government units up to the national government.
The project was completed through its enterprise Information and Communications Technology (ICT) arm Globe Business, and the Local Government of Puerto Princesa, Palawan. New 7 Wonders of Nature (2007–2011) was an initiative started in 2007 to create a list of seven natural wonders chosen by people through a global poll.
To get WiFi in Puerto Princesa Park, visitors can use their mobile data if they have a local SIM card with a data plan. There are also several restaurants and cafes in the area that offer free WiFi to their customers. Additionally, some hotels and resorts in the area may offer WiFi to their guests. It is always a good idea to check with the establishment beforehand to confirm if they offer WiFi and if there are any charges or restrictions on usage.
