How Does It Work? Genesis GV60 Face Biometrics
The system, known as Face Connect, utilizes a near-infrared (NIR) camera situated in the door pillar, coupled with an advanced deep-learning image processing controller. This technology enables entry without the need for a physical or digital key, which is particularly useful when the driver’s hands are full or when carrying a key is inconvenient during outdoor activities.
More Than Just Unlocking
Face Connect does more than just unlock and lock the doors. It also automatically loads the user’s profile, adjusting the driver’s seat, steering wheel, and head-up-display positions, as well as updating the navigation system’s recent destinations and infotainment sound volume settings.
Sharing Access with Digital Key 2.0
In addition to Face Connect, the GV60 also features Digital Key 2.0, which allows owners to share access to their car with up to three different smartphone users, each with their own individual profile. Depending on the mobile device used, the Digital Key uses Ultra Wide Band (UWB), Near Field Communication (NFC), and Bluetooth connectivity for unparalleled access, security, and safety.
Fingerprint Recognition and Security
The GV60 also incorporates biometric technology in its fingerprint recognition system, enabling the car to be started without the key fob. Once your fingerprints are registered through the infotainment system, you can start the GV60 by simply pressing the touch sensor. The security of the biometric data is assured, with all personal details securely stored in the GV60, inaccessible to third parties. Owners can also delete and amend profiles at any time, enhancing security and peace of mind.
Additional Features
The Digital Key 2.0 also activates automatic welcome lighting when the user is within one meter of the car, improving safety, visibility, and usability. It also provides easy access to the luggage compartment with the standard smart powered tailgate, which opens automatically if the user stands at the rear of the car for more than three seconds.
Plug & Charge Genesis GV60 Face Biometrics
The GV60 supports Plug & Charge, a system that allows drivers to pay for electric charging in-car without the need for a payment card or smartphone app. Developed in collaboration with Shell Recharge and Hubject, the system allows drivers to simply pull up, plug in, and charge. The car communicates with the charger using a unique digital code, the Provisioning Certificate Identifier (PCID), which is associated with a Shell Recharge charging contract through the Genesis Charge Pass. Once charging is complete, the customer’s Shell Recharge account is automatically invoiced, and the customer can drive away.
