The press service of “Tashkent Metro” added that the electronic payment system used in the test mode at the metro stations “Badamzar” and “Mustakillik Maidoni” will be implemented at other metro stations. Tashkent metro

The metro system began operations in 1977 and currently has three lines, serving a total of 29 stations. The Tashkent Metro is the only metro system in Uzbekistan and is one of the most used forms of public transportation in the city.

The three lines of the Tashkent Metro are named after significant people or events in Uzbekistan’s history: the Uzbekistan line (Line 1) is named after the country itself, the Chilonzor line (Line 2) is named after the Chilonzor district, and the Yunusobod line (Line 3) is named after the Yunusabad district.

The Tashkent Metro operates from 5:00 am until midnight, and trains run at intervals of 3-5 minutes during peak hours and 7-10 minutes during off-peak hours. The system is clean and efficient, and stations are decorated with traditional Uzbek motifs and mosaics.

Passengers can purchase single-use tokens or rechargeable smart cards to use the metro. The fares are relatively cheap, and there are discounts available for students and pensioners. The metro is popular among locals and tourists alike and is a convenient way to travel around the city.
