The offer of 5G connectivity on highways is also an attraction for other companies in the segment. ConectCar, which is among the main automatic mobility payment operators in Brazil, acquired 10,000 vouchers that will be distributed to its customers free of charge.
“This is another advance in the Eixo SP connectivity project that reflects safety and quality for users. It is a road designed for the future, where the growing demand for connectivity will be decisive for cargo transport, traffic management, and intelligent vehicles, an innovative system that is aligned with innovation and among the priorities in the São Paulo government’s Concessions Program”, evaluates Sergio Santillan, CEO of Eixo SP.
Connectivity
Distributed over an ultra-fast network, the connection is available to drivers traveling in the regions of Campinas, São Carlos, Bauru, Marília, and Presidente Prudente after the first month of testing and to those who are users of the ConectCar tag. During this phase, Eixo SP will release 30 minutes of free connection per month for users to validate the system. The signal is emitted by 1,964 Wi-Fi network transmission points interconnected by a fiber optic network installed throughout the entire stretch granted in a radius of 62 cities from the Central to the Central-West region of the State.
Until the delivery of the technology to the highway user, Eixo SP implemented a robust project, from the installation of equipment to the final phase of internal experiments to attest to the efficiency of the network, such as monitoring via Wi-Fi of the tractors used by the Conservation (real-time telemetry, traceability of field operations, among others) and online connection with operational vehicles. Recently, Eurobike BYD was a partner with the dealership in testing the connectivity of its highways. The Chinese automaker’s intelligent vehicle presented the full functionality of its navigation system, from GPS operation to the display of multimedia content on the vehicle’s dashboard screen.
Within the connectivity platform, the user will be able to request support services such as towing, mechanical assistance, and rescue directly from the dealership’s control center.
To access 5G mobile internet on Eixo SP highways, the traveler, be it a passenger on the move or a driver, with the vehicle stopped and safely respecting traffic laws, will be able to intuitively establish the connection on their device. Simply enter the “Axio SP” network and follow the instructions provided to register and release the signal. Through this high-speed network, users will be able to carry out a series of activities, from video calls with the operations team to obtain information or support to browsing the internet and using streaming applications.
