Deutsche Telekom introduces children’s smartwatch with eSim
With the Xplora X5 Play eSIM, Deutsche Telekom is marketing a new generation of smartwatches for children. The special thing about the watch is: The electronic SIM card is permanently integrated. This reduces the risk for the user of losing or damaging the card when inserting it manually. In addition, the housing is better protected from dirt and moisture. In addition, the watch has the function of a children’s cell phone with additional safety features such as a GPS tracker and SOS button. The Xplora X5 Play eSIM is now available exclusively from Telekom with the Smart Connect S tariff.
Know where the child is
The Xplora X5 Play eSIM is an easy-to-use and child-friendly smartwatch. The children can use the watch to make phone calls and exchange voice and chat messages via the Telekom network. And that with up to 50 contacts set by parents. The clock is operated using self-explanatory symbols on a touchscreen. So the watch is also suitable for children who cannot read yet.
Thanks to the GPS function, parents can see their child’s whereabouts in real-time in the smartwatch app. You can also define safe areas – such as your own housing estate. If the child leaves this area, the parents will receive information. If several areas are defined as such, the arrival – for example with a friend – can be determined. The SOS button provides additional security. If the child holds it down for several seconds, an emergency call is made to the two phone numbers entered for emergencies. In addition, the watch sends the child’s location to the SOS contacts’ smartphone. Via the app, they can see where the child is on a map.
Playful for more movement Deutsche Telekom smartwatch with eSim
To protect children, the Xplora X5 Play eSIM does not have internet access. There are also no games installed. But a step counter that encourages more movement. Once the child has collected enough steps, they can exchange them for accessories with the support of the parents. The smartwatch enables a more balanced relationship between physical activity and screen time.
So that the children can follow the lessons undisturbed, there is the “school mode” function. Then the smartwatch only shows the time. All other functions are deactivated during this time. The exception is the SOS button. Parents make all settings using the app belonging to the watch. There they also determine with whom the child can communicate. The Xplora X5 Play eSIM is tap-proof and meets the legal data protection requirements.
