Deutsche Bahn to invest EUR 30 mln to equip intercity trains with Wi-Fi
In total, DB equips around 1,000 intercity cars with the necessary technology. The conversion for the Intercity 1, the passenger train classic, will start in the summer of 2019 and should be completed by the end of 2021. All of the approximately 70 Intercity 2 double-decker trains will already be available in the course of 2020. The so-called multi-provider technology, which already provides Wi-Fi in the ICE trains, will be used. This bundles the mobile data of all three major mobile network operators, which are available on the train with higher fire widths than other means of transport. Deutsche Bahn ICE wifi
How to access DB WiFI Deutsche Bahn ICE wifi
To access DB’s Wi-Fi service on a train, you need to look for the “Free WiFi” network in your device’s Wi-Fi settings and connect to it. Once you’ve connected, you’ll need to open a web browser and accept the terms and conditions to start using the service.
It’s worth noting that the Wi-Fi service on trains may not be as reliable or fast as you’re used to on land, due to factors such as the train’s movement and distance from cell towers. Additionally, some trains may offer a premium Wi-Fi service for a fee, which may provide faster speeds and more reliable connectivity.
As in the ICE today, there will also be an information and entertainment portal in the Intercity – with news, audiobooks, newspapers, travel information, games and much more. The portal will be available in all Wi-Fi Intercity cars from early 2020. Deutsche Bahn wifi
