Cheaper Roaming with Optus: 23 New Countries Added to $5 Daily Plan
Optus just made international roaming a whole lot more convenient — and affordable — for both postpaid and prepaid users. The Australian telco has shifted 23 new destinations from its pricier Zone 2 into the more affordable Zone 1, broadening access to its $5 Daily Roaming add-on.
What Changed?
As of today, travelers heading to popular island getaways and remote regions will enjoy the same low-cost roaming as major destinations. Countries and territories that moved to Zone 1 include:
- Afghanistan, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Barbados
- Bermuda, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cook Islands
- Curacao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti
- Jamaica, Montserrat, New Caledonia, St Kitts and Nevis
- St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos
This update brings the total number of Zone 1 destinations to over 150, including in-flight roaming. You can only use your mobile phone on an aircraft that has been equipped with the AeroMobile Network. Specially certified hardware has been installed inside these aircraft to make it safe to use mobile phones onboard. Optus international roaming
What Is Optus’ Zone 1 Daily Roaming?
For $5 a day, Optus postpaid customers can activate a Daily Roaming add-on, which includes:
- 5GB of data
- 24-hour validity
- Simple activation via My Optus app
This is a major cost-saver for travelers, especially compared to local SIMs, travel eSIMs, or hunting for free WiFi.
Previously, travelers visiting these destinations had limited roaming options and had to rely on alternatives like local SIM cards or eSIM providers. With this move, Optus now offers a seamless, worry-free experience in even more corners of the globe.
