According to a study by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) published in 2020, Canadian mobile wireless prices have decreased by 28% since 2016, but they are still higher than the average prices in other countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Australia, and Japan. The study found that for a basket of services, including voice, text, and data, the average Canadian price was CAD 41.08 per month, compared to the United States at CAD 28.29, the United Kingdom at CAD 29.76, and Italy at CAD 31.05.

A separate study by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) published in 2020 also found that Canadian mobile wireless prices are higher than the OECD average, but have decreased in recent years. According to the study, the average price for a mobile wireless plan with at least 2GB of data in Canada was USD 37.75 per month, compared to USD 24.15 in the United States and USD 25.20 in Mexico.

In terms of fixed-line broadband, the CRTC study found that Canadian prices were generally higher than other countries, including the United States and European countries. The study found that the average Canadian price for a fixed broadband plan with at least 50 Mbps download speed was CAD 82.03 per month, compared to CAD 64.99 in the United States, CAD 32.38 in Italy, and CAD 50.92 in the United Kingdom.
