Objenious, a brand dedicated to the Internet of Things from Bouygues Telecom, announces the launch of its NB-loT network, a low-power cellular loT technology with a promising future. It confirms its multi-technology cellular loT strategy and its leadership by now establishing itself as the only French player to offer all the new loT cellular technologies: 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, LTE-M, NB-loT.

In a context of strong changes, many companies want to achieve decarbonization objectives and accelerate their digitalization. Combining high energy efficiency and real roofing performance inside buildings, the NB-loT makes it possible to meet these challenges.

This low-consumption network, dedicated to sending coufts messages, improves the longevity and autonomy performance of objects and thus reduces their cost. The advantages of this technology open up the range of possibilities in terms of uses and specifically meet the requirements of the Smart City (management of water, waste, lighting), Smart Building, management of energy efficiency and industrial asset handling.

With technical commitments that are both different and complementary to LTE-M, NB-loT has already been adopted in 63 countries around the world, particularly in Asia. This technology is supported by 5G SA (Stand Alone).

In children, Bouygues Telecom’s NB-loT network already covers more than 1000 municipalities. Objenious anticipates that LTE-M and NB loT will represent 50% of new connections by 2024, relying on a rapid rate of deployment to reach the goal of national coverage by 2022. Bouygues Telecom NB-IoT

“If the LTE-M is a real Swiss army knife of loT, responding to a lafge use case, the NB-loT is a particularly sharp blade” explains Bernardo Cabrera, Director of the Objenious BU. “Indeed, with a more economical module cost and very good energy performance, the NB-loT is already establishing itself in the world.”
