Berec adds new EU roaming databases to website
In line with the Roaming Regulation, as of 1 June 2023, mobile operators have to provide to roaming customers when travelling in the European Economic Area (EEA), information about means of access to emergency services and numbering ranges for value-added services in a user-friendly way. For this purpose, operators are asked to consult the BEREC’s roaming databases. EU roaming databases
For ensuring emergency services and public warning systems accessibility while roaming in other European Union countries, co-legislators tasked BEREC to create and maintain a single Union roaming database. Furthermore, the Roaming Regulation also requires establishing a single, Union-wide database of numbering ranges for value-added services in order to avoid high bills during travelling abroad within the European Union.
National regulatory and other competent authorities shall provide and verify the data in the database EU roaming databases
The databases are published on the BEREC website and include data on the numbering ranges for value-added services in each Member State, the methods of accessing emergency services that are technically feasible for roaming customers, and mobile applications for public warning systems. The national regulatory and other competent authorities shall provide and verify the data in the database. This information has been available to the public since the end of 2022. BEREC will continue to update the databases in case national information changes.
