Airbnb’s New App Revamp Brings Private Chefs, Massages, and Seamless Booking
Airbnb’s 2025 Summer Release marks a significant transformation for the platform: guests can now access more than just a place to stay. Airbnb says users will now be able to book luxury services like personal trainers, massages, and chefs on its redesigned app as it continues to expand beyond its main short-term rentals business.
The company has expanded its offerings to include services, experiences, and a redesigned app — all created to make travel more immersive, convenient, and personalized.
Airbnb Services: Hotel-Style Amenities in 260 Cities
Recognizing that many guests want the convenience and luxury of hotel services in their stays, Airbnb is launching “Airbnb Services” across 260 cities worldwide.
“People choose hotels for their services. People choose Airbnbs for the space… now, we’re giving you the best of both worlds”,
the company’s chief executive, Brian Chesky said in a statement.
These services are available on demand and include:
- Chefs: Enjoy meals prepared by professional chefs in the comfort of your Airbnb.
- Photography: Book a professional photo shoot to capture travel memories.
- Massage & Spa Treatments: Relax with massages, facials, and body scrubs provided by certified experts.
- Personal Training: Stay fit on the go with private training sessions.
- Hair, Makeup & Nails: Access salon-quality grooming and beauty services wherever you are.
- Prepared Meals & Catering: Choose from pre-made meals or full-service catering for any occasion.
These services are performed by highly experienced professionals, most with 10+ years in their fields. Notably, these offerings are available to everyone — you don’t need to be staying in an Airbnb to book them.
Airbnb Experiences Returns With a Revamp
After a pause during the pandemic, Airbnb Experiences are making a comeback with a refreshed focus. Starting with curated launches in major cities like Los Angeles, Tokyo, Paris, and Mexico City, Airbnb will soon roll out new Experiences in 30 locations, with plans to expand to 8,000 cities by the end of 2024.
New experiences include:
- Cultural Activities: From behind-the-scenes tours of famous landmarks to visits with local artisans.
- Culinary Journeys: Participate in cooking classes or dine with regional chefs.
- Outdoor Adventures: Enjoy horseback rides through historic ruins or guided hikes in unique locales.
- Art and Design: Engage in immersive experiences with fashion designers and artists.
- Health and Wellness: Join sessions led by top fitness instructors or wellness professionals.
A highlight of the new rollout is Airbnb Originals — one-of-a-kind experiences hosted by celebrities or creators. For example, Megan Thee Stallion will host an anime-themed experience called “Otaku Hottie Quest” in Los Angeles.
“Today’s travel activities offer no real connection to the city you’re visiting,” said Chesky. “The most authentic way to explore a city is with the locals who know it best. With Airbnb Experiences, don’t just see a place—experience it.”
Applications are now open for Airbnb Experiences hosts. If you know your city deeply and offer a unique activity that’s not available anywhere else, apply to become a host at Airbnb.com/host/experiences.
A Completely Redesigned Airbnb App
The new Airbnb app is central to this expanded experience. Designed to be more intuitive and comprehensive, the app now integrates stays, services, and experiences all in one place. Key features include:
- Homes Tab: Browse and book from millions of listings globally.
- Services Tab: Discover and reserve chefs, stylists, personal trainers, and more.
- Experiences Tab: Explore events and immersive activities wherever you’re traveling.
- Trips Tab: Manage your full itinerary, from check-in to checkout, including booked services and activities.
- New Messaging System: Improved host and service provider communication with photo sharing and group messages.
- Personalized Recommendations: Smart suggestions based on your travel history and preferences.
The app also includes a reimagined profile page, where users can build their travel identity, collect favorites, and share trip memories.
Better Tools for Hosts
Airbnb’s summer release also brings improvements for hosts. These include easier ways to manage calendars, automate messaging, update listings, and track performance. Hosts can now offer services as add-ons and connect with guests more efficiently.
New features also support multi-unit hosts and professional operators, ensuring that both individual hosts and hospitality businesses benefit from the new direction.
Conclusion: Airbnb Becomes a Full Travel Lifestyle Platform
Airbnb’s 2025 Summer Release signals its evolution into a full-service travel platform. By integrating services and experiences with redesigned tools and a user-friendly app, Airbnb aims to deliver a seamless, enriched travel experience — whether you’re staying for a weekend or exploring your hometown.
Airbnb Services, Airbnb Experiences and the all-new app are available starting today. Upgrades for hosts are available today by enrolling in Airbnb Early Access in the app.
