Roaming bill shock refers to the unexpected and often high charges that mobile phone users can incur when using their devices abroad. This can occur because many mobile phone plans have different rates for voice, text, and data usage when the user is outside their home network.

Roaming charges can quickly add up and lead to large bills, especially if the user is unaware of the different rates and uses their phone frequently while traveling. This can be especially problematic for people who are traveling to countries with high roaming charges, or who are not aware of the limitations of their mobile phone plan.

To avoid roaming bill shock, it is important to be aware of the roaming charges associated with your mobile phone plan before traveling. Many mobile phone operators offer special roaming packages that can be more cost-effective than using your regular plan. Additionally, it is a good idea to turn off data roaming on your phone and use Wi-Fi instead, or to purchase a local SIM card when you arrive at your destination. Even better, you can order your BNESIM, the best international SIM card/eSIM and get it before your departure.

It is also important to be mindful of your usage when traveling and to check your phone bill regularly to ensure that you are not incurring any unexpected charges. By taking these steps, you can help avoid the unpleasant surprise of a high roaming bill when you return from your travels.
