According to a report by Cable.co.uk, as of 2021, Russia ranks as the 31st cheapest country for mobile data out of 230 countries worldwide. The average cost of 1GB of mobile data in Russia is USD 0.73, which is significantly lower than the global average of USD 4.07. However, it is important to note that this data is not limited to EU countries, as Russia is not a member of the EU.
In terms of fixed broadband, the same report by Cable.co.uk found that Russia ranks as the 60th cheapest country out of 221 countries worldwide for fixed broadband. The average cost of a monthly broadband subscription in Russia is USD 10.10, which is lower than the global average of USD 32.74. Again, it is important to note that this data is not limited to EU countries.
In comparison to other EU countries, it is difficult to make a direct comparison as Russia is not a member of the EU. However, according to data from the European Commission’s Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) for 2020, the average cost of fixed broadband in the EU was EUR 31.4 per month, while the average cost of mobile data was EUR 1.7 per GB.
