To make using eSIM even more convenient for customers, it is introducing a new eSIM Transfer feature that allows for a quick SIM/eSIM transfer between two smartphones without having to log in to a self-service store.
“Physical SIM cards have been with us for decades, but with regard to environmental protection and technological development, the future is bright – virtual eSIM. Most smartphones in our offer already support eSIM and more than 170 thousand of our customers actively use it,”

eSIM has many advantages and is integrated directly into the device, which significantly increases security – eSIM cannot be simply removed, as in the case of a classic plastic SIM, and in the event of a phone being stolen, the chances of finding the perpetrator and returning the device to its rightful owner are many times higher. In addition, users can have several eSIMs, i.e. several phone numbers, in one device, which they will appreciate, for example, when using both a private and a business number.
No scanning or copying of codes, simplicity comes first
The new SIM/eSIM transfer feature allows you to:
- replacing a physical SIM with an eSIM in another phone,
- replacing a SIM with an eSIM on the same device,
- move eSIM between two phones.
The feature is available to customers with prepaid cards and tariffs on selected smartphones with Android OS and enables the fastest and most intuitive SIM/eSIM transfer. The transfer is very similar to application migration – the new phone will automatically offer it when you first turn it on, or you can start it later in the menu in the Settings > Mobile data section. The whole process takes a few minutes and requires updated software, a data connection and activated Bluetooth.
Vodafone has collaborated with Google and Samsung to launch eSIM Transfer technology, which is built on the GSMA industry standard . Vodafone will also be the first to offer this functionality on the Czech market, for both Google and Samsung phones.
