Tele2 Lithuania offers eSIMs to prepaid customers
Tele2 Lithuania users of the prepaid service Pildyk can already use eSIM on mobile phones. It will become an alternative to physical SIM cards and will allow you to use the connection even more conveniently.
The number of Pildyk users is the largest in the segment of prepaid services, so we are happy to offer our customers the most innovative technologies. eSIM will make it even more convenient to use the Internet and communication services,” said Petras Masiulis, CEO of Tele2 for the Baltic States.
How is an eSIM better than a regular one?
The eSIM module works similarly to a regular card, but it is much more convenient to use. If a physical SIM card needs to be inserted into a dedicated slot, installing a digital equivalent is much simpler – just scan the QR code and the module, which is immediately integrated into the device during production, will be associated with the number. The new generation technology also expands the usual limits of use – with eSIM, you can even use several numbers at the same time.
The security aspect is also important – the eSIM is protected by additional measures, so the data contained in it cannot be cloned or appropriated when transferred it to another device. The integration of the module inside the device also protects it from external factors – it does not wear out, does not get lost and does not fold.

Agnė Saylik, product manager of the prepaid service “Pildyk”, says that customers can start using eSIM without leaving home – first of all, they need to make sure that the device they have supports the new generation technology.
New customers who want to start using eSIM just need to choose the payment plan that suits them and one of the 5 phone numbers offered on the website. Then the customer to the specified e-mail will receive a QR code in the mail, which, after scanning, will link the eSIM with the new phone number. Existing customers who want to keep their phone number can change their physical SIM card to an eSIM at the “Fill” self-service – the customer will also receive a QR code, which, after scanning, will link the existing number to the eSIM. All other actions remain the same – the account is filled as usual, so it is very easy to start using the innovation”, said Agnė Saylik, product manager of the prepaid service “Fillyk”. eSIM technology is supported by 2018 and later released iPhones, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer models from this manufacturer, Google Pixel and the latest Sony phones. When changing a physical card to an eSIM, a one-time exchange fee is applied, which amounts to EUR 1.
Currently, eSIM and Mobile-ID solutions are incompatible – the service does not work, because the operation of mobile signature is tied to a special SIM card that has certificates for authentication and signing. There is currently no solution on the market to support Mobile-ID with eSIM.
