Samsung S20+ is World’s No.1 5G Model

New research from Strategy Analytics Smartphone Model Tracker (SMT) shows Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G is the world’s no.1 bestselling 5G smartphone model by REVENUE in the first half of 2020.

A blend of attractive design, rich features and extensive retail presence has made it wildly popular in numerous countries from South Korea to Switzerland to the US.

Other top-selling 5G models recently include Huawei P40 5G and Mate 30 5G in China and elsewhere.

It is a clean sweep for Samsung, according to report for Q1, as the Galaxy S20+ claimed 40% of the 5G market. Of the 3.4 million 5G-enabled smartphone shipments, Samsung actually accounted for 94% — or around 3.2 million units.

Among the 5G segment, Samsung took all three of the top 3 positions in the US in Q1 2020. Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G is the number one bestselling 5G smartphone model and accounted for a healthy 40% share of all 5G smartphones shipped in the US during the quarter. Samsung’s S20+ 5G smartphone is popular with affluent professionals in major cities like New York and LA.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G is the second most popular 5G smartphone model in the US today, taking 30% marketshare in Q1 2020. The Ultra 5G model is the peak of Samsung’s smartphone range and delivers pro-grade photography in a sleek design. Samsung’s Galaxy S20 5G held third position with 24% share, making it a clean sweep for the popular S20 range at the summit of the 5G charts.

The top three 5G smartphones — again, unsurprisingly — in Q1 2020 were the Samsung Galaxy S20+, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, and Galaxy S20. The other 5G-enabled smartphone from Motorola, LG, OnePlus, and TCL only account for 6% of sales.

The smartphone is built with Glass front (Gorilla Glass 6), glass back (Gorilla Glass 6), and aluminum frame. The device is IP68 dust/water resistant (up to 1.5m for 30 mins) and comes with display features such as HDR10+, Always-on display, and 120Hz.

The rear camera of the smartphone consists of a quad-camera of 12 MP (wide) Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS + 64 MP (telephoto) PDAF, OIS, 3x hybrid optical zoom + 12 MP (ultrawide) AF Super Steady video + 0.3 MP, TOF 3D (depth).

The smartphone is powered by the Exynos 990 – Global Octa-core Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865 – USA processor.

The device comes with a big display screen of 6.7 inches that consists of a Dynamic AMOLED 2X capacitive touchscreen that provides a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels.

The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and comes with features such as HDR10+, Always-on display, and 120Hz@FHD, 60Hz@QHD.

The smartphone’s sensors include Fingerprint (under display, ultrasonic), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer along with ANT+, Bixby natural language commands and dictation, Samsung DeX (desktop experience support).
