Qatar Airways to Resume Flights to Syria
Qatar Airways announced the resumption of three weekly flights to Syria, Damascus, from 7 January 2025. This marks a significant step in reconnecting the region and providing passengers with seamless access to Qatar Airways’ extensive global network of more than 170 destinations.
The decision to restart operations to Syria reflects the airline’s commitment to fostering regional connectivity and supporting passenger demand. Qatar Airways is working closely with relevant authorities to ensure that all necessary safety, security, and operational standards are met ahead of the relaunch.
“We are pleased to resume flights to Damascus, a destination of great historical and cultural importance. This announcement underscores our dedication to fostering connectivity and facilitating travel for our passengers.”

Flights to Syria
Syrian Air, the national carrier, offers services connecting Damascus to several international destinations, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Doha.
Additionally, Cham Wings Airlines, a private Syrian airline, operates flights to various cities such as Yerevan, Manama, Tehran, Baghdad, Basra, Erbil, Najaf, Kuwait City, Beirut, Benghazi, Muscat, Karachi, Lahore, Moscow, and Khartoum.
Iraqi carrier UR Airlines also provides services to Damascus from Baghdad and Erbil.
The gradual resumption of flights by airlines like Qatar Airways, Syrian Air, and Cham Wings Airlines signals an effort to rebuild connectivity, but broader international participation remains hindered by these factors.
