NetCologne to add 200 more hotspots to public Wi-Fi network
While WLAN makes the zoo even more attractive for families, school classes and tourism, the public WLAN network “hotspot.koeln” is also growing in the city. “Already we have the largest connected municipal WLAN network in Germany”, commented Dr. med. Stephan Keller, Cologne city director
. “And with another 200 hotspots by the end of 2019, the public network will continue to grow into the city districts – for example, from the banks of the Rhine on the Bastei via the Dürener Straße to the Poller Wiesen – and then comprise over 1000 antennas.”
With currently around 1.6 million users per month, Cologne is in the lead nationwide. Of course, this is not the end of digital growth: “With our” Digital NetCologne “program, we have decided to keep Cologne, together with the city, in the top position in Germany,” says Timo von Lepel proudly.
