The discounter in the telecom network has been running an eSIM information page for some time now. Although there is not yet a specific date for the launch, congstar will definitely do one thing differently than Drillisch.

Congstar eSIM probably directly from the start of the contract

On the Congstar site is written: Not all German providers support the eSIM yet. For some, it can only be used as a second ticket for the time being. Of course, we are already working on making our low-cost tariffs available to you as eSIM. Expectedly from the second half of 2019 you can order an eSIM for your existing contracts or choose the eSIM instead of the classic SIM card when concluding the contract.

The second half of the year has already begun on 1 July, a more concrete launch date is not found on the page. However, it is interesting that congstar wants to offer the eSIM as a variant directly when ordering.

Because that was one of the biggest criticisms of the introduction of eSIM in the house Drillisch: There, the contract must first be ordered as usual with plastic SIM card, then the eSIM can be applied for in the online customer center. And this process is calculated with a one-time 14.95 euros. If Congstar actually offers the eSIM directly from the start of the contract, customers can save themselves an additional fee.
