The most critical time to leave for the holidays is, according to T-Mobile data, Saturday morning. On this day, 42% of people moved across the border over the weekend, picking up 26% on Friday and 32% on Sunday. The first holiday weekend will attract 57% more Czechs than on regular weekends.

In terms of the directions most often traveled by the Czechs, the south and south-east of our borders clearly dominate. The most popular destinations Czechs are driving to are Slovakia, Croatia, and Italy. Austria is mainly used as a transit country for arriving in those countries.

The absolute top is between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Fridays. On Saturday, you can expect strong traffic practically all day, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with peaks around noon. Sunday has a similar course as Saturday, with a peak between one and five in the afternoon, but people are less busy.

The operator recommends going on holiday on Friday at 14:30. Furthermore, the closest convenient departure time is on Saturday between 5 am and 6 am. If you miss it, it pays to wait until Saturday night and leave after 7pm. If you are flexible with the holiday date, you will not spoil anything, even if you leave your departure until Sunday morning.
