ViaConecta Adds Faster Checkout for Travel eSIM Buyers

ViaConecta has introduced a new express checkout experience designed to reduce the number of steps travelers must complete before receiving a travel eSIM.

The Barcelona-based platform now supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, Klarna and Amazon Pay where available, alongside standard card payments and PayPal. The options shown to each customer may vary depending on device, browser, country, currency and eligibility, so not every wallet will appear in every market.

The update builds on ViaConecta’s Quick Buy flow, which allows travelers to select a destination and plan, pay and receive an eSIM without first creating an account or downloading an app. When a supported wallet can provide the required payment and contact details with the customer’s permission, the checkout can also reduce manual data entry.

If the selected payment method does not provide a delivery email address, ViaConecta asks the customer to enter one before completing the purchase. After payment and order verification, the eSIM QR code and setup instructions are delivered digitally.

“Travelers often purchase connectivity shortly before departure or immediately after arriving in a new country,” said Serhii Pustovit, founder of ViaConecta. “At that moment, every unnecessary checkout step creates friction. Our goal is to make the journey from choosing a destination to receiving an eSIM as clear and efficient as possible.”

Why checkout matters

On paper, this looks like a payment update. In practice, it addresses one of the less glamorous but more important problems in travel connectivity: buying under pressure.

Travel eSIM purchases are often made in an airport queue, from a taxi, or after a traveler discovers that hotel Wi-Fi is unreliable. At that point, account creation, password rules and long forms are not minor inconveniences. They are reasons to abandon the purchase.

That is why checkout is becoming part of the product itself. A provider can offer broad coverage and competitive pricing, yet still lose the customer if the buying process feels like an old telecom portal.

ViaConecta currently offers prepaid eSIM plans across more than 150 destinations. Its product pages include details such as data allowance, validity, hotspot availability and supported networks, although those conditions can vary by plan.

The company also states that it does not store customers’ full card details. Payment information is handled by the selected payment provider under its own privacy, security and eligibility rules.

Useful, but not unique

Digital wallets are already common among established travel eSIM providers, so Apple Pay and Google Pay alone are not a major differentiator.

ViaConecta’s more relevant choice is combining express payments with guest checkout and a web-first purchase flow. That can appeal to occasional travelers who want a plan quickly and do not want another app or account for a service they may use only once or twice a year.

The trade-off is that frequent travelers may still prefer an app-led provider with persistent eSIM profiles, usage tracking, easier top-ups, loyalty features or more advanced account management.

ViaConecta’s plans are also primarily data-only. Travelers who need a local number, conventional calls or SMS will need to look elsewhere or use internet-based messaging and calling services.

There is still room for improvement. A prominent compatibility check before payment, clearer fair-usage limits on unlimited plans and more consistent network information would reduce the risk of customers buying the wrong product. Faster checkout should remove unnecessary steps, not important information.

Conclusion

The travel eSIM market is crowded enough that another low price or another long destination list rarely creates lasting differentiation.

ViaConecta is not trying to outscale the largest brands with this update. It is trying to make the buying process more direct: choose, pay, receive and install.

That is a sensible position in a fragmented market where many providers sell similar underlying connectivity. As wholesale access becomes easier to source, the customer experience around discovery, payment, delivery and support matters more.

The real test will be execution. If wallet availability is reliable, delivery is genuinely fast and plan restrictions remain clear before payment, ViaConecta can turn a modest checkout update into a useful competitive advantage.

If those details are inconsistent, express checkout risks becoming little more than another row of payment logos. In this market, the better product is not simply the one with the fewest steps. It is the one that removes friction without hiding anything important.
