U Mobile ULTRA Tourist Plan

U Mobile Tourist Plan Adds 100GB and Grab Savings

U Mobile has launched the ULTRA Tourist Plan, a 7-day prepaid plan for international visitors in Malaysia, priced at RM15 and offering 100GB of unlimited-speed data with hotspot usage included. Travellers can buy it as a physical SIM or eSIM, with the eSIM available through U Mobile’s website or the MyUMobile app before arrival.

The timing matters. Malaysia is using Visit Malaysia 2026 to bring tourism back into sharper focus, with Tourism Malaysia saying the campaign aims to attract 43 million international visitors this year. For those visitors, mobile data is not a nice extra anymore. It is how they call a ride, find a hotel, translate a menu, pay for services and share the trip in real time.

The Grab layer

The more interesting part is the bundle. U Mobile has added a complimentary Grab Visit Malaysia 2026 Travel Pass, offering savings of up to RM186 through 22 vouchers across rides, dining and shopping. The pass includes discounts on airport rides, EV rides, GrabRent and GrabExec, 20% off selected GrabFood deliveries and Grab Dine Out restaurants, and 10% off selected GrabMart orders.

That makes the plan feel less like a basic prepaid SIM and more like a tourist utility pack. It solves the first practical travel problem: “I’ve landed, now how do I move, eat and get online?”

Navin Manian, Chief Consumer Business Officer of U Mobile, said,

“U Mobile introduced the ULTRA Tourist Plan to give international visitors the opportunity to experience the superior connectivity of our next-generation ULTRA5G network while travelling in Malaysia. The encouraging response reaffirmed the value of having a dedicated connectivity offering for tourists and inspired us to develop the ULTRA Tourist Plan. Designed specifically for international travellers, the plan combines 100GB of Unlimited Speed Data at just RM15, enabling visitors to stay seamlessly connected throughout their journey across Malaysia.”

He added, “In conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026, we wanted to make the experience even more rewarding for international visitors through our collaboration with Grab Malaysia. By combining U Mobile’s seamless ULTRA5G connectivity with Grab’s transportation, dining and lifestyle services, we are providing tourists with a more convenient, connected and rewarding way to discover the best of Malaysia.”

What travellers should notice

The offer follows U Mobile’s ULTRA Tourist 24 Hour Trial, launched in February 2026, which gave eligible foreign passport holders a free 100GB tourist eSIM for 24 hours at selected Malaysian international airports. In other words, the new paid plan looks like a direct response to real visitor behaviour, not just another seasonal campaign.

Still, the details matter. U Mobile’s terms list the 100GB 7-day plan at RM15 promotional pricing, with a normal price of RM20, and say hotspot use comes out of the same data quota. The Grab Travel Pass is also tied to successful activation of the ULTRA100GB plan and is limited to the first purchase, first come first served, while stocks last. SoyaCincau also notes that users need a minimum RM15.90 credit balance to activate the RM15 plan.

Tan Jiong Jian, Director of Commercial and Deliveries of Grab Malaysia, said,

“Visit Malaysia 2026 is an opportunity to showcase the very best of Malaysia to the world, and we wanted to contribute our strengths towards this shared goal. Together with the convenience of our platform and the everyday knowledge of our driver-partners, we hope to help people experience Malaysia’s food and culture in a way that feels more accessible and authentic. Whether it’s discovering a memorable meal, exploring a cultural landmark or planning a journey across the country, through the Visit Malaysia 2026 Travel Pass, Grab can help make that experience more seamless while celebrating the people and businesses that make Malaysia unique.”

Conclusion

U Mobile’s move fits a wider travel connectivity trend. GSMA Intelligence has noted that travel eSIM is pushing operators to compete not only on price, but also on brand value, service and end-to-end user experience. That is exactly what this bundle does: it turns connectivity into part of the trip itself.

For travellers staying mainly in Malaysia for a week, RM15 for 100GB plus hotspot and Grab savings is a strong local offer. For multi-country trips across Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, Hotlink’s Travel SIM may be more convenient because its official tourist SIM covers all four markets. Global eSIM brands such as Airalo, Ubigi, Holafly, Saily and Jetpac still make sense for travellers who want one app across multiple countries. But for Malaysia’s Visit Malaysia 2026 push, U Mobile has landed on the better idea: do not just sell tourists data. Help them start the trip.
