Things to do in Antalya

Situated on the southwest coast of Turkey’s Anatolia peninsula, Antalya is a resort city known for its stunning beaches, ancient Roman ruins, and the historic Kaleiçi quarter.

Among the most popular things to do in Antalya include a visit to the nearby archeological sites showcasing well-preserved excavated settlements, a trip to the picturesque national parks, and a relaxing day frolicking on its crystal clear beaches.

Travel back through time with a visit to Antalya, which looks like a city from medieval times filled with buildings and structures that remained from its time as an ancient Roman port city. One such structure is the majestic Hadrian’s Gate, originally built to celebrate the visit of a Roman emperor, as well as the Hıdırlık Tower, believed to have been built by the Romans as early as the 2nd century!

The city is also famous for being a beach destination. You’ll find holiday boats in the Old Harbor and beachside resorts dotting the shoreline. Known as the “Turquoise Coast”, spending time just lounging by the beach and soaking up the sun is a must when you’re in Antalya.

When is the Best Time to Visit Antalya?

Antalya weather is typically warm and dry during the summer months of June to August, making it the ideal season for beach hopping. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are shoulder seasons perfect for outdoor activities like walking tours, trekking, and even rafting or canoeing. There are also significantly fewer tourists so it is easier to book Antalya flights and accommodations during these months.
