Smart launches RoamFree app for travelers
In addition to being able to reserve accommodations with Agoda or Booking, or order food and reserve tables in top restaurants with FoodPanda, OpenTable and TheFork, customers can now also access Facebook for free for 30 minutes every day using the RoamFree app. They can also stay up-to-date with breaking news through a regularly updated ticker within the app featuring updates from Inquirer. Through the app, tourists can also buy prepaid load anytime throughout their journey.
This service is expected to benefit the millions of Filipinos who travel abroad both for business or pleasure. Filipino travelers are among Asia’s emerging “global traveling class”, having visited five countries on average, according to a recent study.
Better travel experience
“With RoamFree, a better, more convenient travel experience awaits our customers, as they are able to check flight schedules, book tours, search for recommendations from fellow travelers, and navigate around foreign cities without having to worry about roaming charges,” said Kat Luna-Abelarde, First Vice President, International & Carrier Business.
“Together with key partners, our goal is to connect our growing community of Filipino travelers around the world, provide them with a wide array of digital solutions and serve them wherever they are,” Abelarde added.
To use the app, customers just need to open RoamFree and activate their mobile data upon arriving at their destination to access accounts on various partner sites and services.
Data roaming manager
In addition to RoamFree, another solution for Filipino international travelers is the Data Roaming Manager, which allows users to buy data roaming packs and track their data usage on-the-go. Available to Smart Prepaid and Postpaid subscribers traveling in over 130 countries, the Data Roaming Manager lets users monitor their active subscriptions so they could control their data roaming and avoid unwanted charges.
