Shopping online is more popular among Germans than in-store shopping, with 33 percent saying they prefer to shop online compared to 21 percent who prefer in-store shopping, according to a representative survey from German digital association Bitkom.
Around 46 percent of respondents said they had no preference. The survey measured attitudes to e-commerce in Germany among 1,152 internet users over the age of 14.
Smartphone become an important shopping companion
Above all, the smartphone is developing into an important shopping tool for many. In 2014, only one in five (20 percent) with mobile phones, it is now almost every second (46 percent).
Especially the younger generation goes shopping with the mobile phone. In addition, 9 out of 10 smartphone shoppers with their mobile companion at least occasionally get a purchase or research for a product (93 percent). 87 percent compare by smartphone prices, 84 percent read regularly or sometimes reviews.
