Saily Becomes Rangers’ Official Travel eSIM Partner

Rangers Football Club has named Saily its new Official eSIM Partner, bringing travel connectivity into a sponsorship category that makes unusually good sense for an internationally followed football club.

The agreement is aimed at Rangers supporters, players and staff who need mobile data while travelling outside their home market. Instead of changing a physical SIM card or accepting an operator’s roaming charges, users can install a travel eSIM and activate a data plan through their phone.

For supporters heading to European away fixtures, that can solve a very ordinary but irritating problem: landing in another country without affordable data for transport apps, hotel details, digital tickets, messaging or match updates. Rangers says supporters can also receive 15% off their first Saily data-plan purchase using the code RANGERS.

Connectivity for away days

The partnership is built around a simple observation. Modern football travel is heavily dependent on the phone long before a supporter reaches the stadium. Boarding passes, maps, ride-hailing, restaurant bookings, group chats and ticket information all require a working connection.

Saily offers mobile data plans in more than 200 destinations and allows customers to install an eSIM without removing their primary SIM card. That makes it possible to add travel data without the familiar airport routine of finding a SIM shop, producing identification and replacing a tiny plastic card.

Bob Brinklow, Saily’s Country Manager for the UK, said:

“We’re proud to partner with Rangers Football Club, a club with one of the most passionate and loyal fanbases in world football.

“Whether supporters are following the team across Europe, travelling for work, or enjoying a holiday abroad, staying connected shouldn’t be complicated or expensive.

“With Saily, Rangers fans can get online in minutes and stay securely connected wherever the club takes them.”

The practical fit is stronger than it might first appear. Rangers is not only attaching its name to a travel product; it is introducing that product at a moment when supporters have an identifiable reason to use it.

More than cheaper data

Price is only part of Saily’s proposition. The service includes an ad blocker, web protection and virtual-location tools intended to reduce exposure to malicious websites and improve privacy while travelling.

Saily says testing by West Coast Labs found that its ad blocker reduced data consumption by an average of 28.6% across the websites included in the study. The test covered 22 popular websites, with measured consumption falling from 276.3MB without the blocker to 184.1MB when it was enabled.

That figure needs context: it does not mean every user’s entire monthly allowance will last 28.6% longer. Savings depend on the websites visited and how much advertising content they contain. Still, reducing unnecessary data use can be useful on smaller prepaid plans, particularly during short trips.

Rangers supporters can explore the dedicated Saily offer before travelling.

As with any travel eSIM, buyers should check that their phone is unlocked and eSIM-compatible, compare the included allowance with their likely usage and install the profile before departure. Someone planning to stream matches continuously or hotspot several devices may need a larger package or a different plan structure.

Football becomes an eSIM distribution channel

Saily is not alone in seeing sport as a route to internationally mobile customers. The company already works with the London Lions basketball club, which renewed its partnership for the 2025/26 season and offered its team, staff and supporters a similar 15% plan discount.

Nomad eSIM has used LED advertising across more than 190 Premier League matches, while Vodafone’s UEFA agreement includes a Champions Travel eSIM designed for football supporters travelling across European markets. Vodafone’s offer goes further than a conventional discount by including dedicated fan plans, hotspot support, customer service and opportunities to win match tickets.

These arrangements reflect a wider shift in travel-connectivity marketing. Providers are moving beyond destination-focused search advertising and affiliate comparison pages towards partnerships that reach customers before a trip begins. Football clubs are especially attractive because their calendars create repeated, predictable travel moments rather than a single seasonal campaign.

The next test is execution. A logo, discount code and announcement will generate awareness, but the partnership becomes more valuable if Saily appears naturally inside away-ticket emails, supporter travel guidance, club apps and pre-departure reminders. That is where connectivity changes from sponsorship inventory into a useful part of the fan journey.

Conclusion

The Rangers deal gives Saily something every travel eSIM brand wants: access to customers at the point where travel intent is already visible. Vodafone is approaching the same opportunity at competition level through UEFA, while Nomad is using Premier League visibility to build broad recognition. Saily’s club-level model is narrower, but potentially more personal.

Its advantage is relevance. Rangers supporters do not need to be persuaded that international connectivity matters when an away fixture is approaching. The product already fits the trip.

The risk is that football–eSIM partnerships become interchangeable promotions offering little beyond a discount. Saily can avoid that by turning the agreement into a genuine service layer around supporter travel. If Rangers integrates connectivity into the practical away-day journey, this will look less like another sponsorship badge and more like an early example of clubs becoming effective distribution partners for digital travel services.
