Nepal Suspends Visas-On-Arrival for France, Germany and Spain

The Nepalese government has added France, Germany and Spain to the list of countries with entry prohibition through the suspension of visas-on-arrival due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Department of Immigration announces in a statement.

The suspension came into force on March 10, 2020, for an indefinite period, VisaGuide.World reports.

“The aforementioned health certificate will be scrutinized both at the immigration at the airport in Kathmandu and the land border entry-exit points of Nepal,” the statement reads.

Overseas nationals who want to enter or transit to Nepal, along with their visa application are required to submit a health certificate that approves that they are not affected by COVID-19.

According to the Department of Immigration statement, the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu will be the only one entry-exit point for the countries with the entry ban.

The rest of Nepal’s point of entry and exit will be temporarily suspended till the date of further notice.

Earlier this month, Nepal suspended free visa-on-arrival for five countries that are profoundly affected by a coronavirus, China, South Korea, Japan, Italy and Iran.

Therefore, the eight countries mentioned above who already got the prior visa of Nepal, are required to submit a health certificate that proves they test negative for COVID-19, and must be carried with the travel documents.

The health certificate must be produced at least seven days earlier before the time of arrival in Nepal.

In Nepal, only one case of coronavirus has been detected so far. This was a Nepali student who had returned from China on January 24. The 31-year-old student returned from Wuhan, China, known as the epicentre of coronavirus.

So far, there are up to 119,000 cases of people infected by coronavirus worldwide. The number of deaths has reached 4,300, while 66,582 infected citizens have been recovered.

Four of the most affected countries with the deadly virus are China, Italy, Iran and South Korea.

By now, up to 80,000 cases with coronavirus are detected in China, while the number of deaths is 3,158.

In Italy, there are 10,149, people infected with COVID-19, with the total number of deaths 631.

In Iran have been detected 8,042 cases of coronavirus, from them 291 have lost their lives in a fight against COVID-19.

South Korea, another country that Nepal has restricted the entry, is also profoundly affected by the virus. In this country, 7,755 cases are reported, while the number of deaths has reached 242.

Another four countries with a massive number of coronavirus infections are France, where are detected 1,784 cases, followed by Spain (1,695), Germany (1,565) and Japan (587).
