O! Brings Fully Online Local eSIM Access to Kyrgyzstan Visitors

Travellers arriving in Kyrgyzstan can now register for an O! Mobile Operator eSIM entirely through the My O! app, using an international passport rather than visiting a retail store. The offer is open to foreign citizens, includes a Kyrgyz mobile number and provides the same core services as a conventional local SIM: mobile data, voice calls and SMS. O! says the number can also be used for verification in local taxi, banking and delivery apps.

That makes this more than another data package for tourists. Many international travel eSIMs are designed primarily to get a phone online. O!’s proposition is closer to digitally acquiring a genuine local subscription, complete with a domestic number and local pricing.

There is one important timing detail. Travellers may download the My O! app before departure, but O!’s latest visitor guidance says registration and activation must be completed after arrival, while the device is connected to a network inside Kyrgyzstan. So this is not quite a “connected before landing” product, although it removes the airport-kiosk hunt once the traveller is in the country.

What travellers actually receive

O! is currently advertising its “All Unlimited 500” plan at 330 KGS, roughly USD4, for four weeks during the first three billing periods. The standard price shown is 500 KGS. The plan includes unlimited maximum-speed mobile data, unlimited calls and SMS within the O! network, 100 minutes to other Kyrgyz networks and 10GB for hotspot use.

The value is difficult for most international travel eSIM providers to match. Airalo currently lists data-only Kyrgyzstan packages, while Holafly explicitly states that its Kyrgyzstan eSIM does not include a local number for calls or SMS. Those products remain easier for travellers who want to purchase, install and prepare everything before departure, but O! offers considerably more local utility.

Coverage deserves a little more precision than the usual marketing headline. O! says its network reaches 99.8% of Kyrgyzstan’s populated territory. That is an impressive claim, but “populated territory” is not the same as every mountain road, trekking route or remote valley. Kyrgyzstan is exactly the kind of destination where offline maps remain sensible, regardless of the operator chosen.

How activation works

After arriving, users download or open My O!, select “Become an O! Subscriber,” complete passport registration, choose a number and tariff, and pay in the app. O! then supplies a QR code for adding the eSIM profile. The company says the number becomes active after installation.

Travellers using a phone without eSIM support can still purchase a physical O! SIM from an O!Store or an O! promotional representative and register it with a passport. O! also advertises round-the-clock support through Telegram, WhatsApp and its website chat.

The app-only route will not suit everyone. Someone making a short transit stop may prefer a travel eSIM that can be arranged before departure. The same applies to travellers who do not want to submit passport information through an unfamiliar app immediately after landing. Beeline Kyrgyzstan also supports eSIM, and the operator has been directing more customers towards app-based activation, giving visitors another local option worth comparing.

The local operator strikes back

O!’s move reflects a wider shift in the eSIM market. The GSMA reported in 2026 that 73% of mobile operators now offer commercial eSIM services, while travel use cases are driving awareness and allowing non-telco brands to capture customer relationships. Local operators are responding by making their own subscriptions look more like travel products: app-based, immediate and free from store visits.

O! has a strong answer on price, local identity and functionality. Its weak point is the final metre of the journey: travellers still cannot complete the process and confirm that everything works before entering Kyrgyzstan. Fix that, add clearer multilingual onboarding and publish more detailed route-level coverage information, and the gap between a convenient travel eSIM and a useful local mobile service becomes very small indeed.
