Kigen: The Quiet Infrastructure Behind Secure eSIM and iSIM IoT

Kigen is not the kind of eSIM company most travellers would recognise. No glossy consumer app, no destination pages, no airport panic story. Kigen sits deeper in the stack, where connectivity becomes identity, manufacturing and security. Less visible, more important.

 

Kigen belongs in the eSIM infrastructure layer. The company focuses on SIM, eSIM and iSIM technologies for IoT, helping businesses scale connected devices with digital identities and remote SIM provisioning. In plain English: Kigen helps manufacturers, operators and IoT providers put secure cellular connectivity into devices before, during and after deployment.

Why Kigen matters

It is not magic for every product, but for high-volume, low-power devices, cellular identity starts becoming part of the silicon design.

Kigen’s Remote SIM Provisioning platform generates, hosts and manages operator profiles for eSIM-based devices and supports M2M, consumer and IoT deployments. Kigen says its RSP server solutions are GSMA SAS accredited, with accredited sites in the UK and India, and support hosted or on-premise models. That matters because SIM profile management is a security process involving credentials that operators and device makers cannot treat casually.

For the SGP.32 era, Kigen’s eIM — eSIM IoT Manager — is the strategic product to watch. The eIM helps manage activation, profile switching, deactivation and updates. Kigen says it comes with Kigen Pulse, an orchestration platform, an embedded-C device SDK and geo-redundant or hybrid cloud options. The business meaning is simple: fleet owners want one place to control connectivity across deployed devices.

Kigen also offers in-factory profile provisioning, data generation and professional services. IFPP allows operator profiles to be loaded securely during production, reducing late-stage logistics and helping devices connect out of the box. Data generation supports eSIM, iSIM and RSP use cases; professional services cover deployment planning, implementation and global rollout support.

Where Kigen fits in the market

Kigen sits closer to the root of trust.

The market direction supports that positioning. Trusted Connectivity Alliance estimated global eSIM shipments reached 605 million in 2025, up 18%, and said the transition to SGP.32 for IoT was underway. That suggests eSIM is becoming less about replacing plastic and more about building programmable connectivity into products.

Kigen is not for a small travel brand that wants to resell tourist eSIM plans next month. It is also probably not the first stop for a hotel chain looking for a guest connectivity perk. This is infrastructure for companies with device roadmaps, security obligations, manufacturing complexity or long-life IoT fleets.

What could be clearer? Like many deep-tech companies, Kigen’s language can become dense quickly. eIM, IPA, RSP, IFPP, SAS, eUICC: accurate, necessary, but not always friendly to commercial buyers. More buyer-path examples — smart meter maker, tracker OEM, MNO launching IoT eSIM — would make the value easier to grasp.

Conclusion

Kigen matters because the next phase of eSIM will not be won only in travel apps or smartphone settings. It will be won in factories, chipsets, utility networks, logistics fleets and industrial devices that need to stay trusted and reachable for years. The company’s role is not to sell connectivity as a commodity. It is to make cellular identity secure, programmable and manageable at scale.
