Google Station with free Wi-Fi expands to over 400 sites in the Philippines

Google Station is now available in more than 400 sites across the Philippines, five months after its initial launch with 50 sites.

The service has seen an average of one million monthly active users connected to its free internet feature since its launch last February.

The first 50 sites Google Station was available at included the Light Rail Transit-2 (LRT-2) and the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) stations, as well as select universities such as Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and Bukidnon State University.

Clark International Airport and Davao International Airport were also among the first 50 sites.

K Suri, director for Next Billion Users for Southeast Asia, said they still plan to set up more sites in the Philippines through their partnership with Smart Communications.

More universities, city halls, airports and bus terminals, public parks and plazas, restaurants, markets and malls are included in the expansion.

Aside from the Philippines, Google Station is also established in six other countries namely India, Mexico, Thailand, Nigeria, Brazil and Indonesia.
