Free Pro Mini Brings a €6.99 eSIM Plan to French Business
Free is joining the growing group of telecom operators turning eSIM from a technical feature into something more useful: a practical tool for managing business mobile fleets.
The French operator has launched Free Pro Mini, a low-cost enterprise mobile plan built around fairly modest usage — calls, messaging and 10 GB of data — but packaged with 5G+, eSIM activation and centralized fleet management. At €6.99 per month excluding VAT, or €5.99 for Freebox Pro customers, it is less about chasing heavy mobile-data users and more about giving companies a cheaper way to connect employees who simply do not need 100 GB every month.
A small plan with a bigger idea
Free Pro Mini includes:
- Price: €6.99/month excluding VAT, or €5.99 for Freebox Pro customers
- Data: 10 GB in metropolitan France and 10 GB in Europe and French overseas departments
- Network: 5G+ / 4G+ in France
- Calls, SMS and MMS: unlimited for standard business use in France, with Free also promoting European usage
- Contract: no minimum commitment
- eSIM: available for compatible devices
- Fleet tools: centralized line management through the Free Pro customer portal
- Activation: remote line assignment and immediate eSIM activation
- Setup fee: €10 excluding VAT per plan
Free positions Mini for employees with relatively light mobile needs: office-based staff, field workers, logistics teams, construction employees or other users who mostly need calling, email, calendars, messaging and occasional access to business apps.

This matters because business mobile portfolios have spent years moving in the opposite direction. More data. More roaming. Bigger bundles. Premium tiers. Yet many corporate fleets contain plenty of lines that never come close to using those allowances.

eSIM makes the low-cost tier more useful
The more interesting part of Free Pro Mini is not the 10 GB allowance. It is what happens operationally around it.
An administrator can manage lines centrally, assign them to employees and activate supported devices through eSIM without waiting for a physical SIM to arrive. Free’s portal also supports consumption monitoring, line replacement and control of out-of-bundle usage.
That is exactly where operator eSIM strategies become more meaningful.
For consumers, eSIM is often marketed as convenience. For enterprises, the real value is lifecycle management: faster employee onboarding, easier device replacement, less SIM logistics and the ability to match different connectivity profiles to different workers.
Free now has three clear tiers. Mini covers light users. Free Pro 5G+ offers 250 GB in France and 37 GB across more than 70 destinations. Free Pro Max moves toward intensive and international usage with unlimited data in France and, subject to its conditions, more than 135 destinations. All three include eSIM and centralized fleet management.
The French market is moving the same way
Free is not alone in making eSIM part of enterprise mobility.
SFR Business explicitly promotes eSIM and fleet management across its business mobile portfolio. Its current 5G plans include, for example, a 5 GB tier advertised at €16.20 excluding VAT per month under a 24-month commitment, while higher tiers add larger data allowances and 5G+ features.
Orange Business has also refreshed its enterprise portfolio for 2026 around six mobile plans compatible with 5G+, digital fleet management and a new fleet-contract model. Those contracts can centralize multiple lines under 24- or 36-month terms, with features such as roaming controls and protected bandwidth options.

Bouygues Telecom Entreprises similarly offers lower-data business profiles, including a 5 GB France-and-Europe plan, although 5G is listed as an additional €2 excluding VAT monthly option and contract terms can run from 12 to 36 months.
Against that backdrop, Free’s combination of 10 GB, 5G+, eSIM and no commitment at €6.99 is unusually aggressive.
There are caveats. Mini will not suit employees who rely heavily on tethering, video meetings, cloud applications or frequent international travel. Those users will burn through 10 GB quickly and are better matched to Free’s higher tiers or larger enterprise packages from Orange, SFR or Bouygues.
The €10 activation fee also takes some shine off the headline price, particularly for short-lived lines, and Free currently describes Mini as a limited-series offer rather than a permanently guaranteed tariff.
The real story is segmentation
Free Pro Mini is interesting because it challenges a lazy assumption in enterprise mobility: that every employee needs an increasingly large data bucket.
They don’t.
The smarter direction is segmentation: match connectivity to the employee, then use eSIM and fleet tools to deploy and change those profiles easily.
Orange, SFR and Bouygues are all pushing business mobility toward better digital fleet control, 5G and more flexible user profiles. Free is applying the same logic with a more aggressive entry price.
That is where operator eSIM has a chance to become genuinely useful rather than merely available. The competitive advantage will not come from saying “we support eSIM.” Most major operators already do. It will come from using eSIM to make enterprise connectivity cheaper to provision, easier to change and much better matched to how employees actually work.
