Esimatic eSIM: Plans, Coverage, Pricing and Features

The travel eSIM market has become crowded with providers selling increasingly similar country plans. Esimatic is trying to move beyond that one-trip, one-purchase model. Its proposition is built around a reusable eSIM profile that can stay on a traveller’s phone and be topped up with new country, regional or global packages for future trips. That makes Esimatic less like a digital SIM shop and more like an app-based travel connectivity account.

Founded in Latvia in 2023, the consumer brand is operated by eSIM SIA, a Riga-registered limited liability company. Esimatic says it serves more than 75,000 users and supports more than 200 countries and regions, while its current app-store copy advertises connectivity in 205+ countries. The company positions the service for tourists, digital nomads, business travellers, cabin crew and other frequent international users.

How Esimatic works

Esimatic sells prepaid, data-focused eSIM plans through its website and mobile app. Travellers choose a destination or regional bundle, buy a plan, install the eSIM by scanning a QR code and enable data roaming for the Esimatic profile. Activation is generally triggered once the eSIM connects to a supported network at the destination.

The more interesting part is what happens after the first trip. Esimatic says the same installed eSIM can be reused: users can add another data plan without reinstalling a new profile, and many plan pages state that the eSIM can be renewed without another QR-code scan within one year. For frequent travellers, that removes one of the least elegant parts of travel eSIM usage — accumulating multiple temporary profiles and repeatedly installing new ones.

The service is primarily data-only. Esimatic plans generally do not include a local phone number or traditional SMS. Users can keep their normal SIM active for their existing number and use WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Teams or other internet-based services over Esimatic data. Some destination pages describe calls as VoIP rather than cellular voice.

Coverage and network access

Coverage is one of Esimatic’s strongest selling points. Its catalogue includes individual country plans plus regional products covering Europe, Asia, Africa, the Balkans, the Caribbean, North America, South America, Oceania and the Middle East. It also offers broader multi-region packages, including Europe + USA and several Global tiers.

The company does not operate its own radio network. Like other travel eSIM providers, it connects users through partner mobile networks. Country pages often list several networks in the same market, which can be useful where manual network selection is available or one partner performs better than another. Esimatic advertises 4G and 5G access where supported by the local network and plan.

Regional coverage deserves attention before purchase. “Global” does not necessarily mean every destination. For example, Esimatic’s Global Light bundle currently covers 62 countries, while Global Premium lists 104. Regional bundles likewise have defined country lists, so travellers should check the exact itinerary rather than relying on the product name.

Plans, pricing and the meaning of “unlimited”

Esimatic offers two main plan types: fixed-data packages and Day Plans. Fixed-data options commonly range from 1GB through 100GB on destination and regional products, with some app-store material promoting allowances up to 200GB. Validity varies by package, from short seven-day plans to longer 30-, 60-, 90- or 180-day options on selected regional products.

Entry pricing is competitive in several popular markets. At the time of review, Esimatic lists plans from US$3.79 for Australia, US$3.89 for Germany and Türkiye, US$4.49 for the United States and US$4.89 for Canada. Regional products start higher because they cover multiple countries; Europe, for example, is advertised from US$4.99.

Its Day Plans need closer reading. Esimatic markets these as unlimited data, but they are subject to a daily high-speed allowance. The standard Day Plan provides 1GB of high-speed data every 24 hours, after which speed is reduced to 1.25Mbps until the allowance resets. Day Plan+ increases the high-speed allowance to 2GB and then limits speed to 2Mbps. That is technically unlimited in total volume, but not unlimited high-speed data.

For messaging, maps, ride-hailing and light browsing, the throttled connection may still be usable. Travellers expecting sustained HD streaming, large cloud backups or heavy hotspot use should understand the distinction before buying. Esimatic supports tethering/hotspot on both regular and Day Plans, which is useful for laptops and secondary devices.

The app is becoming the real product

Esimatic’s development path suggests that the company wants the app — not the individual eSIM plan — to be the long-term customer relationship. Its 3.0 release added the eSIMiles Wallet, referral rewards, cashback-based loyalty levels, Day Plan+, a redesigned interface and improved management of multiple eSIMs. The app is available on iOS and Android, with the Android listing showing more than 10,000 downloads.

That repeat-use strategy matters in a category where switching costs are extremely low. A traveller can compare eSIM prices in seconds. By keeping one reusable profile on the device and adding wallet, cashback and referral mechanics, Esimatic is trying to create reasons to return without forcing a subscription.

Purchases do not require KYC according to Esimatic’s help centre. Payments include major cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Alipay; the company’s terms also reference PayPal. Prices are charged in US dollars, and Esimatic says listed charges include VAT unless otherwise stated.

Support, refunds and user feedback

Esimatic provides a help centre, contact form and in-site chat, while its privacy policy says third-party service providers are used to support a 24/7 service. Refunds are more conditional than the marketing language might suggest. The terms state that customers can request a refund within 30 days when activation is impossible because of a technical problem and troubleshooting has been completed. Accidental purchases are not refundable once the eSIM has been installed, and unused plans expire 12 months after purchase.

Independent review volume is still relatively small. As of September 2026, Esimatic has a 4.0 TrustScore on Trustpilot from 29 reviews, while Google Play shows a rating above four stars from several hundred reviews. Positive feedback tends to focus on simple setup, pricing and reliable connectivity. Negative reviews include cases involving failed connections and disappointment around throttling on “unlimited” plans. That makes plan transparency especially important for buyers.

Where Esimatic stands out — and where it does not

Esimatic’s clearest advantage is not a single cheap country plan. It is the combination of broad coverage, a reusable eSIM profile, regional and global bundles, hotspot support, flexible quota sizes and an app designed for repeat purchases. That makes it particularly relevant for travellers who take several international trips per year and would rather manage connectivity from one profile than start each time again.

There are limits. Most plans are data-only, users do not receive a travel phone number, and “unlimited” Day Plans become heavily speed-managed after the daily high-speed allowance. Global bundles also vary significantly in geographic scope, so the word “global” should never replace a country-by-country coverage check. External review volume is modest compared with the largest travel eSIM brands.

For occasional travellers, Esimatic is another competitive prepaid option. For frequent travellers, its reusable-profile model is the more interesting proposition. The product makes the most sense when it is treated not as a disposable eSIM for one holiday, but as a persistent connectivity layer that stays on the phone and can be reloaded whenever the next trip begins.
