The use of cryptocurrency has been increasing globally and the previous infographic is proof. But not only that, the poll conducted by Statista also proves that the use of cryptocurrency is expanding where people are facing economic difficulties because of inflation and steep devaluation.

Smartphones and the internet in Turkey

By 2022, the smartphone penetration rate in Turkey is expected to reach 71%, according to Statista. For now, however, just under 50% of the mobile phones in use in the country are smartphones. This number is expected to rise to 52.8 million by 2021 and 56.4 million by 2023.

Electroneum is one of the only KYC/AML compliant cryptocurrencies. And it is certainly the only one that pushes for mainstream adoption through education. Their primary focus is set on helping people in developing regions to access the global digital economy and provide millions of people with an alternative to traditional banking.

Electroneum in Turkey

Digitaly payments eco-system Electroneum said its over 41,000 of Electroneum crypto-currency users in Turkey can now top up Turkcell, Vodafone and Turk Telekom via third party airtime and data provider. As in Brazil, Electroneum partnered with a third-party mobile top-up provider who purchases airtime and data in bulk from the three mobile network operators (MNOs) in the country and resells it to the public.

Electroneum enabled tens of thousands of ETN users in Turkey to instantly and easily top-up Turkcell, Vodafone and Turk Telekom airtime and data via the Electroneum mobile app through a third-party provider.

Remittances in Turkey average circa US$200 million yearly and because money transfers are costly, the Turkish population could benefit from low-cost ETN’s global mobile payments function included in their app.

Over 25 million unbanked people in the country also stand to benefit from ETN because it is a cryptocurrency focused on enabling people to gain skills online and sell their skills.

Before the end of this year, Electroneum is on path to launch their own eLearning and freelance platform that will allow users to learn, share and monetise their digital skills using ETN as payment.

The zero-fee platform will enable more than 1.7 billion unbanked people worldwide to access online digital learning for the very first time. All the while, people in developed economies will gain access to a new low-cost resource of highly motivated skilled people. Electroneum will enable sellers to place their digital skills and receive 100% of the proceeds.

While Turkey represents a huge opportunity for any blockchain projects and cryptocurrencies, as the government has set forward a very ambitious five-year economic plan focused greatly on the revolutionary sector, the country is also a key country for any tech firm as it is considered a bridge between Europe, Asia and the Middle East (The country is located right in the middle of Asia and Europe. Five percent of its territory is in Eastern Europe and 95% in western Asia)
