Per a report in the Sun, the local council in Birmingham has put out a call to companies to develop a concept for the permanent attraction. Digbeth is a potential location for the themed experience.

The canals around Digbeth were used as a backdrop for the hit BBC show. Dudley’s Black Country Living Museum was also used to film parts of Peaky Blinders.

“This may sound like a crazy idea but Peaky Blinders was such a phenomenon and it’s reaped huge rewards for Britain,” a source told the newspaper.

“Although the show was ultra-violent, it also showcased our industrial past, not to mention a whole new wave of fashion and haircuts.

“So it’s actually a no-brainer for tourism chiefs keen to get the maximum draw and make the most of a TV show that was an international hit.”

In 2019, Escape Live opened the world’s first official Peaky Blinders escape experiences, ‘The Raid’ and ‘Double Cross’, at its Birmingham location. Peaky Blinders: The Rise in Camden has also been extended until 28 May 2023.

About Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders is a British period crime drama television series created by Steven Knight. The series is set in Birmingham, England, in the aftermath of World War I and follows the exploits of the Shelby crime family, who are known for their distinctive style of dressing and their practice of sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps, hence the name “Peaky Blinders“.

The show first premiered on BBC Two in September 2013 and ran for five seasons, concluding in 2019. It has since become a popular international sensation and has been praised for its writing, acting, and cinematography.

The series stars Cillian Murphy as the leader of the Shelby family, Tommy Shelby, who is a former soldier and ruthless gang leader. Other notable cast members include Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Tom Hardy, and Sam Neill.

The show’s themes include the consequences of war, family loyalty, power struggles, and the criminal underworld. It has been noted for its excellent soundtrack featuring contemporary music and popular artists.

Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy recently spoke about an upcoming film to continue the story after the show’s sixth and final season, which aired on the BBC in April 2022.

On Today FM, the Tommy Shelby actor said the script was “close” to being finished. He also said the plan is to “make a film and continue the story but in the cinematic world rather than on the television”.

Overall, Peaky Blinders is a well-crafted and gripping crime drama that has garnered a loyal following of fans. If you enjoy intense drama and historical settings, it is definitely worth checking out.
