At the 2019 Global Mobile Broadband Forum, Zhao Dachun, vice president of China Mobile, said that China Mobile will provide 5G commercial services and build more than 50, 000 base stations in more than 50 cities in China in 2019, and will further expand to 340 cities across the country in 2020.
Zhao Dachun said that China Mobile will vigorously promote 5G and 4G technology sharing, resource sharing, coverage coordination and business coordination, and strive to build a 5G boutique network with national coverage, advanced quality and excellent technology, and will make full use of 4G site resources to achieve the rapid deployment of 5G networks. In 2019, 5G commercial services will be provided in more than 50 cities in China, and more than 50,000 base stations will be built. In 2020, it will be further expanded to 340 cities across the country. At the same time, it will cooperate with 2.6G and 4.9G frequency bands to achieve low-cost and efficient network construction.
Earlier, in early September, China Unicom announced that it would join hands with China Telecom to build a 5G network, each responsible for the construction of the 5G network in the designated area, the ownership of users would remain unchanged, and the brand and business operations would remain independent, without harming the interests of the other party. China Mobile, on the other hand, chose to go it alone. It is reported that in early September, China Mobile has set up more than 20,000 5G base stations in 52 key cities across the country, and has carried out 5G network construction in more than 300 cities.
China Unicom already build 50,000 5G base stations
Wang Unichu, chairman of China Unicom, disclosed at the China Unicom Smart Ecology Cooperation Conference that the target of building 50,000 5G base stations this year has been completed.
He further stated that the 5G network is being commissioned and opened in various cities. After the official opening, the joint construction with China Telecom has doubled the coverage of China Unicom’s 5G signal.
