BWS and Links Field Advance IoT Tracking with eSIM
Brazil’s vehicle tracking and logistics market is not short of hardware. What it often lacks is connectivity flexibility — especially when devices move between regions, contracts change, or a fleet manager wants to avoid sending someone to a vehicle just to deal with a SIM card.
That is why the partnership between BWS IoT and Links Field Brazil is more interesting than a standard product announcement. The companies have launched the first BWS 4G tracker homologated with SGP.32 eSIM technology, positioning it for transportation, logistics and asset-security use cases where uptime, remote control and cost discipline matter.
More than a tracker upgrade
The BWS 4G tracker already had the features fleet operators expect from serious hardware: jamming detection, driver-behaviour monitoring, IP67 protection against water and dust, OTA updates, low power consumption in deep sleep mode and detailed odometer precision.
The eSIM layer changes the story. At the moment, BWS is using a plug-in eSIM format to validate the full solution. That may sound less elegant than a fully embedded chip, but commercially it makes sense: it lets the company test remote profile management and operator switching before moving toward MFF2, the solderable eUICC format that would remove the physical SIM component altogether. BWS says future MFF2 support is the goal, improving both security and device design.
That distinction matters. Plug-in eSIM is a practical bridge; MFF2 is where the product becomes truly embedded. For large fleets, the value is fewer truck rolls, fewer manual SIM swaps, and less dependence on one carrier profile chosen at deployment.
SGP.32 is the bigger signal
SGP.32 is GSMA’s remote SIM provisioning architecture for IoT devices, especially devices with limited user interface or constrained network conditions. GSMA’s latest SGP.32 v1.3 specification describes remote provisioning and management of eUICCs in network-constrained and user-interface-constrained IoT devices. In plain English: it was built for machines, not smartphones.
This is where BWS and Links Field are tapping into a wider global shift. Wireless Logic describes SGP.32 as a standard designed for large-scale, over-the-air profile management across IoT fleets, with components such as the IoT Profile Assistant and eSIM IoT Remote Manager enabling more scalable provisioning. Telenor IoT makes a similar point: SGP.32 is relevant for long-life devices such as connected vehicles, smart meters, industrial equipment and logistics trackers.

The business case is operational
For fleet operators, the strongest argument here is not futuristic. It is very ordinary — and that is exactly why it matters. A tracker installed in a vehicle is not something you want to touch again unless you absolutely must. If a connectivity contract changes, coverage becomes weak in a specific region, or a customer requires a different operator setup, remote profile management can reduce downtime and field maintenance.

There is also an ESG angle, although it should not be overstated. Removing plastic SIM cards and reducing maintenance trips is positive. But the bigger sustainability gain comes from operational efficiency: fewer visits, fewer replacements, longer device lifecycles.
Final thoughts about BWS SGP.32 eSIM tracker
BWS and Links Field are not alone in seeing SGP.32 as the next serious phase of IoT connectivity. Global players such as Wireless Logic, Telenor IoT, Vodafone IoT, Eseye, Kigen and Onomondo are all building narratives around eSIM orchestration, remote provisioning and fleet-scale connectivity. The difference here is the Brazilian market context: BWS is putting the standard into a tracker category where the benefits are immediately understandable.
This will not be the right approach for every deployment. Small fleets with stable local coverage may not need SGP.32-level flexibility yet. And the product story will become stronger once BWS moves from plug-in validation to MFF2 eUICC at scale. But for logistics, transportation and asset-security providers that need long-life devices, remote control and commercial freedom, this launch points in the right direction.
The real trend is clear: IoT connectivity is moving away from “insert SIM and hope it works for years” toward programmable, remotely managed infrastructure. In that world, the tracker is no longer just a box under the dashboard. It becomes part of a living connectivity strategy.
