IDT Adds Travel eSIM Plans to BOSS Revolution App
IDT Corporation is bringing travel eSIMs into the BOSS Revolution app, adding mobile data connectivity to a platform already built around international calling, money transfers and mobile top-ups.
The move is more significant than simply adding another feature. BOSS Revolution already serves people whose everyday lives cross borders — migrants, families with relatives abroad and international travelers accustomed to buying digital telecom services inside the app. For IDT, eSIM is therefore a natural extension of an existing cross-border relationship.
The new plans provide mobile data in more than 190 countries, including the United States. Customers can browse, buy and activate an eSIM directly in the app without visiting a carrier store, swapping a physical SIM or signing a long-term contract. IDT says travelers moving from traditional carrier roaming to its eSIM offers can save between 70% and 90% on international data costs.
Two ways to buy data
BOSS Revolution is launching with both fixed-data and unlimited options rather than forcing every traveler into the same package.
- Standard eSIM Plans: Packages range from 1 GB valid for seven days to 100 GB for 30 days. In some destinations, pricing starts below $1 per GB.
- Unlimited eSIM Plans: Designed primarily for shorter trips, with durations from one to 30 days. In selected destinations, plans start below $2.50 per day.
All plans are reloadable, so users can add data without purchasing another eSIM. Hotspot use is supported, while 5G is available where the underlying network supports it. Purchased eSIMs remain valid for 12 months, giving travelers flexibility to buy before departure.
“BOSS Revolution app customers now can choose the eSIM plan that best fits their travel plans and, upon arrival, quickly and easily connect to local mobile networks,” said Emilio del Rio, President of IDT Digital Payments. “Our affordable, convenient eSIM plans are also available for travelers visiting the U.S.”
That U.S. positioning is worth noting. Travel eSIM is often framed around Americans or Europeans going abroad, but inbound travelers are an equally important segment, particularly for a brand built around cross-border communications.
eSIM moves inside everyday apps
IDT is entering as travel eSIM distribution moves beyond specialist marketplaces. Financial services and other consumer apps increasingly treat mobile data as an embedded travel utility rather than a standalone telecom purchase. Revolut, for example, now sells local, regional and global eSIM data plans directly inside its app.
That shift matters because convenience is becoming almost as important as price. Travelers may still compare gigabytes and validity, but the winning proposition can increasingly be the service already sitting inside an app they trust.

FDM CCS Insight forecasts around 134 million travel eSIMs will be used globally in 2026, up from 101.8 million in 2025, according to the Financial Times — roughly 32% growth. The figure is a market-usage forecast rather than a count of 134 million unique travelers, but the direction is clear: travel eSIM has moved well beyond an early-adopter product.
“Whether you’re traveling for business, visiting family abroad, or exploring a new destination, travel eSIMs keep you connected so you can navigate, message, email, share and use your favorite apps. And you never have to worry about searching for Wi-Fi, finding a local SIM card or coming home to a surprisingly large roaming bill,”
del Rio added.
A useful launch, with questions still to answer
For existing BOSS Revolution users, the proposition is straightforward: calling, payments, top-ups and now travel data can live in one place. That reduces friction and gives IDT a distribution advantage that a new standalone eSIM brand would have to build from scratch.

Still, experienced eSIM buyers will want more than headline pricing. Network partners by destination, speed policies on unlimited plans, fair-use thresholds, latency, support performance and multi-network access can matter as much as the advertised gigabytes. Travelers who need a local phone number, native voice or SMS should also check carefully, because the launch is positioned around mobile data.
To mark the launch, BOSS Revolution is offering customers 20% off their first eSIM purchase through its iOS and Android apps.
The bigger story
BOSS Revolution does not need to become another specialist eSIM marketplace to make this work. Its advantage is different: it already owns a cross-border customer relationship.
That puts IDT alongside a broader wave of companies embedding connectivity into products people already use. Specialist eSIM providers still have an advantage in destination choice, comparison tools and travel-focused features, while traditional operators retain the simplicity of keeping everything on one mobile bill. Embedded players such as BOSS Revolution and Revolut compete from another angle — distribution, familiarity and fewer apps.

Recent Financial Times reporting, drawing on CCS Insight and Sensor Tower data, points in the same direction: eSIM adoption is accelerating while distribution expands beyond dedicated connectivity apps.
For IDT, the opportunity is not simply selling cheaper roaming. It is making connectivity another routine transaction inside an international-services ecosystem. If BOSS Revolution can pair competitive pricing with transparent network information and consistently good support, the eSIM launch could become much more than an add-on. It could strengthen the app’s role as a practical digital hub for people who live, travel and communicate across borders.
